Mission Statement

“We organized in 1987 in response to the foundation document and pastoral letter of the United Methodist Council of Bishops, In Defense of Creation: The Nuclear Crisis and a Just Peace. In this document the bishops said "No" to nuclear deterrence and called for greater witness and action for peace and justice. Since then we have been faithful advocates of nuclear disarmament and have broadened our interests to other issues. We have explored the theology of peace and war and have promoted better relationships among churches within the Methodist family.”
