Mission Statement

“The Justice and Peace Office assists the Conference [of Major Superiors of Men] in fulfilling its mission to 'provide a corporate influence in church and society,' and to 'promote dialogue and collaboration with the conference of bishops and other major groups in church and society,' particularly regarding issues of social justice domestically, internationally and within the church.

Through the Justice and Peace Office, U.S. Religious are able to address issues of social justice, drawing on the rich experiences of religious both in the U.S. and those serving in mission. The national office, with its presence in the Washington, DC area, works in collaboration with member institutes, LCWR, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, other Catholic organizations, ecumenical and inter-religious organizations, and other human rights and social justice organizations, to effectively analyze and respond to various policies that affect the marginalized in the US and around the world. ”
